SET TRIGGER METHOD OF OPERATION

With the rifle pointed in a SAFE direction and the selector in the “FIRE” position, push the selector lever forward, 12 to 15 degrees, until it comes to a stop, then release.  The lever will return automatically.

The rifle is now in the “SET” mode and will fire at 1.5 to 2 pounds of pressure on the trigger.

After this shot has been fired, the rifle will automatically revert to the normal semi-auto mode of fire until the trigger is reset in the same way as described above.

To “un-set” the trigger, push the selector lever to the “SAFE” position.  This puts the weapon back in the semi-auto mode, and on “SAFE”.

METHOD OF OPERATION

1.  A selector lever detent, identified by the word “SET” will be added half-way between the “SAFE” and “FIRE” positions on the side of the pistol grip housing.  Move the selector lever to this detent.

2.  Pull the trigger rearward until it comes to a complete stop.

3.  Release the trigger and move the selector lever to the “FIRE” position.  The rifle is now in the “SET” mode and will fire at 2.0 to 2.5 pounds of pressure on the trigger.

After this shot has been fired, the rifle will automatically revert to the normal semi-auto mode of fire until the trigger is reset in the same way as described above.

To “un-set” the trigger and return the hammer and sear to full engagement, either move the selector lever to the “SAFE” position or move the bolt to its rearward (open) position.

Looking at the lower receiver you will notice the “Pressure Reduction Button”, or PRB, button on the grip assembly below rear of the trigger guard.  Pressing this button, before engaging the trigger, allows the shooter to over-ride pressure on the return spring thereby considerably reducing the trigger pull-weight on the next shot.
Activating is a simple press, shoot and release operation as described below:

With rifle pointed in a SAFE direction and the selector in the “FIRE” position, press the PRB with the middle finger until it comes to a stop.  The trigger is now set for a 1.25 to 1.75 pound let-off.

While maintaining pressure on the PRB, activate the trigger in the usual manner.  Once the shot is fired, release the PRB allowing it to return to its original position, thus completing the Set Trigger operation.

Repeat the sequence for each shot fired in the SET mode.

To “un-set” the trigger, simply release pressure on the PRB.  So long as the PRB is not depressed, the weapon will operate in the standard semi-auto firing mode.

In order to reduce the semi-auto trigger pull weight and creep specifications TO THE MAXIMUM DEGREE POSSIBLE, WTS offers a special purpose SET TRIGGER mechanism on Standard AR-15 (and AR-15 type rifles), FAL (no L1A1), and Contoured HK 91/93 trigger work that gives the shooter the OPTION of either:

1.  Firing the rifle in the normal semi-auto mode at Standard or Contoured trigger pull specifications, OR

2.  Significantly reducing the trigger pull specifications on the NEXT shot by manually reducing the AR15 or HK’s normal hammer/sear engagement or, in the case of the FAL, manually eliminating pressure on the return spring.

All Set trigger mechanisms are “passive” in the sense that they have no functional purpose when the rifle is being fired in the normal semi-auto mode.  As a result, they have no effect on normal hammer/sear engagement or return spring pressure unless the shooter deliberately manipulates the mechanism.  See “Methods of Operation” below.

WTS Set Trigger work is an optional enhancement to our AR15 & FAL Standard Trigger & HK Contoured Trigger work.  So, when the weapon is not in the “Set Mode”, the pull-weight would be that of our WTS Standard Trigger, in the case of AR15’s & FAL’s, or our WTS HK Contoured Trigger.

With the weapon pointed in a SAFE direction, move the selector lever to the “FIRE” position and depress the WTSG1 Set Trigger Button found behind the trigger. 

The weapon is now in “SET” mode and will fire when 2.0 to 2.5 pounds of pressure is applied to the trigger.

Once this shot has been fired, the rifle will automatically revert to the normal semi-auto mode until the trigger is reset in the same manner as described above.

The trigger can be “un-set”, returning the hammer and sear to full engagement, by moving the selector lever to the “SAFE” position.

NOTE:  THE WTSG1 TRIGGER MODIFICATION CANNOT BE PERFORMED ON ALUMINUM TRIGGER BOXES.
